Newly crowned Thailand Masters champions Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying’s hopes of making their second successive final ended in “disappointment” when the professional pair fell to a 15-21, 21-7, 14-21 defeat Japan’s top seeds Yuta Watanabe-Arisa Higashino in the semi-finals.

The Japanese are now coached by former Malaysian coach Jeremy Gan who has become a big hit in Japan after Watanabe-Higashino won the All-England title last year.

Jeremy plotted Peng Soon-Liu Ying’s defeat, especially in the decider as the Malaysians fizzled when they made mistakes and gave away easy points – in their search for victory.

Saturday is also the day when they were informed that the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) shot down their request to train at the Academy Badminton Malaysia three time a week since they turned pro at the beginning of the year.

The pair together with men’s doubles pair Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong are without a proper training place since leaving the national team.
