Malaysia succumbed to their second defeat today in the MAS-NZ Test Series in Tauranga.

The Malaysian lads fell to a 4-2 loss with goals from J.Coughlan (2′,FG) and  H. Inglis (40′,PC, 59′,PS, 60′,FG).

Malaysia’s two goals were scored by Fitri Saari (35′,PS) and Rashid Baharom (29′,FG)

MHC Technical Director Terry Walsh, who was present to witness the match said it was evenly contested, despite the flattering scoreline.

“NZ dominated the 1st quarter and scored a goal after 2 minutes. We made many careless errors and were nervy in our disposition. It was a positive decision by the coaches to switch strategies. This allowed MAS control in the second half of the match. The boys had a better mentality and approach in the last 2 quarters, which is one of the positives to take away from the match”, Terry said.

“The goal is to keep developing. We believe this defeat provides many lessons and look forward to the last test match with great enthusiasm. The matches have been of great quality, which is extremely good for player and team development”.

Malaysia will play their final test against NZ tomorrow at 6PM (NZ time) in Tauranga before heading off to Auckland to play 2 test matches against Asian giants Korea.
