logo-sepang-12-hours-w284Internationally renowned oil and lubricant specialist Motul becomes the title sponsor of the Sepang 12 Hours, the final race of the inaugural edition of the Intercontinental GT Challenge, the premier global GT championship organised and promoted by the SRO Motorsports Group. Apart from having the entire Motul Sepang 12 Hours field sporting the French’s brand iconic red and white colours, several top teams will also be using Motul 300V and Motorsport Line range of products, which has been tested and proven in the harshest racing conditions across the world.

Motul, which has over 160 years of history, is often considered one of the leading players in the industry, even more so when it comes to high performance racing oils and lubricants. The brand has a long and illustrious history in motorsports, particularly in endurance racing, and forms the ideal partner for one of the toughest long-distance races on the planet.

Since 2015, the endurance race near the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur is a joint organisation between the SRO Motorsports Group and Sepang International Circuit. With Japanese Super GT promoters GTA also working together with SRO to bring cars from the GT300 class to Sepang, it is clear that the 2016 edition of the Motul Sepang 12 Hours will be more competitive than ever before.

Last year the 12-hour race in the sweltering Malaysian heat served as a dress rehearsal for the 2016 season of the Intercontinental GT Challenge, and it soon became clear that the confrontation between the best GT teams from Asia, Australia and Europe resulted in a spectacular and entertaining racing. The outcome of the race was only decided in the final hour, with the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT R8 of Stéphane Ortelli, Laurens Vanthoor and Stuart Leonard claiming victory.

The entry list for the 2016 Motul Sepang 12 Hours (8-11th December) has yet to be finalised, but with the title race still wide open, the race is shaping up to become a glorious finale to the inaugural edition of the Intercontinental GT Challenge.
