Selangor’s hopes of three points and a winning start at the Shah Alam Stadium were denied by none other than their former player and Felda United goalkeeper Norazlan Razali.

Norazlan was the stumbling block for the Red Giants in the only Super League match played on Sunday as he time and again made timely saves to enable Felda United share the spoils with a 1-1 draw.

For new Selangor coach B. Satianathan it was a night of frustration while his former assistant at Felda United, Nidzam Jamil, who is now Felda’s head coach, the draw was as good as a win.

The Fighters, who have some issues over the non-payment of salaries to Satianathan and players from last year, took the field as underdogs but were never intimidated at the Shah Alam Stadium.

New signing Antonio German opened scoring for Selangor when the 27-year-old English-born Grenada international netted with a scorching drive on 41 minutes. The Red Giants, however could not turn that advantage into more goals.

Norazlan denied last year’s Golden Boots winner with 31 goals Rufino Segovia had only one good look at the Felda goal. Another new Selangor signing Faiz Nasir, who played for Terengganu last season, was also not able to beat the in-form Norazlan.

For all their hard work Felda were rewarded with the equalizer and this came via their hardworking skipper Hadin Azman who found the net in the 69th minute, stunning goalkeeper Khairul Azhan Khalid with an unstoppable shot from an acute angle on the left.

Meanwhile, in a Premier League match played at the KLFA Stadium in Cheras, UKM FC surprised Perlis with a 2-1 win. RIZAL ABDULLAH
