The Royal Selangor Club (RSC) Dato’ Chu Ah Nge International Junior Soccer Tournament 2025 returns for its 19th edition this weekend (Dec 5-7) at the grounds of the RSC Bukit Kiara Sports Annexe in Kuala Lumpur.
Organised by the Junior Soccer Development Programme (JSDP) of RSC Soccer Section, the tournament is one of the main events in the club’s annual events calendar. It is also dubbed the battle of the ‘Creme de la crème’ event where rising stars are discovered and legends created.
The tournament is named after one of the past presidents of the club, the late Dato’ Chu Ah Nge, who sponsored the Challenge Trophy as well as provided financial support when the tournament was inaugurated in 2005.
Datuk Gerald Rakish Kumar, the chairman of the organising committee, said in his welcoming address that the tournament was introduced to provide a competitive environment for all age groups in the RSC Soccer Development programme that eventually grew rapidly.
“The RSC Dato’ Chu Ah Nge tournament gradually attracted the attention of many regional clubs and hence it necessitated us to invite them to participate to justify the tournament’s international tag,” he added.
This year’s edition will see 100 teams participating in the five age groups. The teams are from Singapore, the Maldives, Indonesia, Nepal and Malaysia.
The teams will feature in five categories – Under-8, Under-10, Under-12, Under-14 and Under-16. All the teams will be awarded points during matches in their respective age group categories.
Teams with the highest cumulative points score will be presented with the Dato’ Chu Ah Nge Challenge Trophy. The playing time for each match is 18 minutes.
