* Satianathan calls on Armed Forces to resolve the matter fast
B. Satianathan will file an affidavit with the FA of Malaysia (FAM) as a follow up to the letter of complaint he had filed with the Players’ Status Committee over his fate after being told to “take a rest” by the Armed Forces FA as their chief coach.
“I want to move on with my life. However, under the present circumstances I am just unable to do anything,” said Satianathan.
The former national coach was still seething over the manner he was told to “take a rest” by Armed Forces FA deputy president Datuk Mazelan Kasap in front of all the players and other coaching staff and officials at a training session in Kuala Lumpur on April 14.
This came two days after Armed Forces fell to a 1-3 defeat to Selangor in a Super League match at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi, Seremban.
“I have listed all my grouses in the affidavit because I want the matter to be resolved. As a professional I want to move on with my coaching life. My contract with Armed Forces expires in November and I am still on their payroll but it stops at that because I have no team to coach since being told to take a ‘rest’ , something which is baffling.
“Other teams do not want to negotiate with me because I am still with Armed Forces. I want to coach and train players, that was what I was doing with them (Armed Forces) before I was ‘rested’ from the job.
“Set me free so that I can plan my future.”
Satianathan, who is also the president of the Football Coaches Association of Malaysia (FCAM) also revealed that there are some coaches who have run into salary issues with their employers,” added Satianathan, a former national coach.
“With this in mind, it is time to standardise the contract for coaches in the M-League. Apart from salary there are several other issues that have been reported to FCAM. We have taken a serious view of these matters.
“One way to address the shortcomings is to standardise the contracts of coaches. Coaches need to be respected. They are professionals and need to be treated as professionals. Sadly, professionalism does not seem to exist with some of the the management.”
Satianathan is not the only coach who has been told to “take a rest” in the M-League this season. It started with Kelantan’s Dutch coach George Boateng, who was later re-assigned as the FA’s technical director, followed by Johor Drul Takzim’s Croatian coach Bojan Hodak and the latest “rest” victim is Kuantan FA’s Aminuddin Hussein.
Kuantan ply their their trade in the lower tier Premier League.
