Indonesia registered a slim 4-3 victory over Malaysia in the water polo event held at the Bukit Jalil National Aquatic Centre on Tuesday (Aug 15).

 Indonesia, the silver medallist in the 2015 Games, opened scoring through Delvin Feliciano but Mohd Irshad Shahir equalised for Malaysia.The other scorers for Indonesia were Ridjkie Mulia (two goals) and Yusuf Budiman  while Fam Jia Yi scored Malaysia’s two other goals. 

 “The win was important for us. Our players were nervous and it affected their play. We will try to improve our performance in the next game” said Indonesian coach Milos Sakovic.

 However, Malaysian coach Voon Yoon Hui was not satisfied with the defeat although his charges played well

Indonesia will meet defending chanpions Singapore while Malaysia face 2015 bronze winner, Thailand on Wednesday (Aug 16).
