As the official pre-season test for the 2019 FIM Asia Road Racing Championship draws to a close, Australian rider Broc Parkes continues to dominate the new ASB1000 class.

The YAMAHA Racing Team ASEAN rider who will also be doing double duty this year in the Endurance World Championship, completed the two-day test at the top of the timesheet. Parkes logged his personal best lap on the 5.5km Sepang Circuit during the third practice with 2’06.075s.

His team mate, Yuki Ito, trails Parkes by a little more than half a second and was listed as the second fastest rider in the class with 2’06.767s.

Malaysia’s top competitor in the blue-riband class was Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman who clocked fourth fastest behind Thailand’s Thitipong Warokorn. The sole Honda on the grid, helmed by Mohd Zaqhwan Zaidi, rounded up the top five.

Meanwhile, the new age-capped SuperSports 600cc class is shaping up to be super competitive with six riders lapping within a second of each other. Thai rider Peerapong Boonlert leads with 2’11.015s followed by Malaysians Mohd Helmi Azman and Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin. Indonesia’s Andi Farid Izdihar was fourth fastest after two days of test while another Malaysian, Azroy Hakeem Anuar was fifth quickest.

Former Moto3 rider Adam Norrodin, returning for a stint in the Asian region this year, was sixth fastest.

Round 1 will officially kick off this Friday (March 8), with Race 1 to be held on Saturday and Race 2 on Sunday from 1pm onwards. Grandstand entry to the Sepang International Circuit is free to the general public.
