Fintro-Hockey-World-League-Semi-Final-Antwer

An update on Malaysia’s campaign in Antwerp was provided by K.Logan, the chief executive officer of the Malaysian Hockey Confederation as per append below –

We were beaten by India yesterday, in the Quarterfinals of the Fintro Hockey World League Semifinals at Antwerp, Belgium.

The scoreline was heart-breaking as we held the lead till 12 minutes from time. Nevertheless, we still have an opportunity, albeit slim and heavily dependent on results beyond our control.

Manager Stephen Van Huizen explained that it was a bitter pill to swallow, but one we have to accept.

“It was a missed opportunity but we will move forward. Every team in the 5th to 8th play-off will be mentally and emotionally affected, but the team that recovers the fastest will have the added advantage”, said Stephen.

“We will bounce back. We have played well in the tournament so far, but will need to translate our performance into results”,said head coach, Tai Beng Hai.

One of the bright sparks of the tournament thus far, has been the inspiring performance of veteran goalkeeper, Roslan Jamaluddin.

Goalkeeper coach M.Nadarajan said “Roslan has done very well, despite the tremendous pressure placed upon him. We are very proud of him”.

Malaysia takes on France tomorrow at 3.30 PM Belgium time.
