Korean Lee Chang-Hoon came off the bench and scored an 86th-minute equalizer for Police in a 2-2 stalemate against Selangor in a second-round Group D Malaysia Cup match at the Hang Jebat Stadium in Melaka on Wednesday.

The share of the spoils left both teams, together with leaders Melaka United who have six points after three matches, Selangor also on six but have played one match more, and Police on five points keep it hot for a top-two finish to advance to the knockout stage.

The Cops took the lead at Hang Jebat with Nigerian Uche Agba firing in a left-footed bullet that tore into the Selangor net on 28 minutes. It jolted Selangor as the Red Giants came back strong with Khyril Muhymeem, Ifedayo Olusegun causing a lot of problems for Police upfront.

The long-awaited equalizer finally came in the 70th minute from the towering Taylor Regan who finished off a downward header from Olusegun from a corner by Brazilian import Sandro da Silva Mendonca.

Ten minutes later Selangor went in front and this time it was Olusegun’s turn to get his name into the scoresheet. The Nigerian was given enough space inside the box and he turned and drilled home a grounder past the hapless Khairul Azhan Khalid.

If the Red Giants thought they had all three points in the bag in came Chang-Hoon who kept his cool to beat the offside trap and trap a long ball from Agba before outwitting a marker with a scorcher into the net for a 2-2 draw.
