#German rider finishes 14th on Friday at Dutch GP, after a great day of Free Practice.

PETRONAS Sprinta Racing made a great start to the Dutch GP with rider Jonas Folger setting the third fastest Moto2 time in FP1. Folger ended the first day of his second race weekend with the team as the 14th fastest rider on the combined timesheets.

A 1min 38.199secs lap for Folger put him third in FP1, which was interrupted early on due to a red flag. On the final timesheet there were five riders within 1 tenth of a second of each other.

In the afternoon, the German finished FP2 in 14th, clocking a time of 1min 37.982secs. This put him into a provisional spot in Q2 on Saturday. He was only half a second off the best time of the day, after working tirelessly to find an optimal race pace for Sunday’s Dutch GP.

Tomorrow Folger will contest FP3, before Qualifying takes place at 3:05pm local time (Q1) and 3:30pm local time (Q2).

#94 Jonas Folger

“Today I had a good feeling – especially in FP1, in which we were up at the top. We know it would be hard to stay there in the FP2, but we could improve our lap times. In the second session we struggled a bit more because we chose a different gearing to the other riders. We have to find the perfect combination, but when it comes to riding, I feel comfortable. The Barcelona test was important, as it gave us a step forward from which we benefitted here – not only in terms of the setup, but also my riding style; every day on the bike counts for me. The goal for tomorrow is to improve our lap time, we want to reach the low 1:37s.”
