The JGTA Taiwan Junior Championship takes place this week (January 2-5, 2018) at National Golf Country Club ????????? . This three-day, 54-hole/stroke play event features many top-ranked players in junior golf, and is the second event on the 2017-18 JGTA schedule.

This is the first event in Taiwan to be sanctioned with American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Performance Based Entry (PBE) status. The AJGA is the gold standard of junior golf and many notable college and professional golfers including Cheng-Tsung Pan are alumni of the AJGA.

The JGTA Taiwan Junior Championship features players from nine different countries including Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Malaysia, Taiwan, Canada, the U.S. and the Philippines. There are three players in the field who have earned AJGA PBE Fully Exempt status, two players who have signed their National Letter of Intent to play College golf, and one AJGA tournament champion.  Players to watch:

National Golf Country Club (NGCC) ????????? is the Title Sponsor and Host Venue of the JGTA Taiwan Junior Championship, and has been consistently voted as one of the top-three golf courses in Taiwan. Founded in 1995, the National Golf Country Club is located close to Huoyan Mountain in Miaoli. The fairways are wide and surrounded by countryside sceneries. The course is stretched over hilly terrains and provides a panoramic backdrop of the Taiwan Straits.

NGCC has previously hosted five Asian Development Tour events in 2012, 2015 and 2016. In 2017, it also played host to its first Asian Tour event where the Yeangder Heritage was staged. Several international events have also been staged at the National Golf Country Club including the TPGA Championship since it was founded.

“We are very excited because this is the first time in Taiwan that we can have a junior event with AJGA Performance Based Entry (PBE),” says Roy Wu, General Manager at NGCC, “All of the parents and players are very excited and hopefully they enjoy it.”
