Indonesia were crowned the inaugural champions of the ASEAN Under-16 Boys’ Futsal Championship 2025 when they beat Thailand 4-3 in an exhilarating final, played at the Nonthaburi Hall in Bangkok.
As expected, it was a keen affair between the two with the score tied 2-2 at the half after Thailand’s lead through Phuwipadawat Thanawat in the very first minute of play and another from Petchtiam Boonyarit (17th) being cancelled out by Indonesia’s Hetson Messi Hamonangan Sirait (4th) and Muhammad Faisal Gumilang (20th).
Indonesia raised the stakes in the second half when they scored two quick goals, off Muhamad Dafa Ramadan (26th) and Muhammad Faisal (28th) for them to take a 4-2 lead.
Even though Petchtiam managed to slot in the third goal for Thailand in the 38th minute, it was just a tad too late for the revival as Indonesia stuck it out for the title.
In the meantime, Myanmar came in third in the tournament this year after beating Vietnam 2-1.
With just the 1-0 lead at the end of a tight first-half when Nay Lin Phyo struck the seventh-minute lead, Myanmar then added another in the 25th minute through Ye Yint Kaung Khant.
Bui Gia Bao scored Vietnam’s only goal in the 31st minute.
