JAKARTA (16 Nov 2016) â Indonesian fans favourite Irfan Bachdim is out of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2016 after injuring his left fibula, just days before the teamâs departure to the Philippines.
It was the second time that Irfan had to give the AFF Suzuki Cup a miss after getting injured in 2014 as well.
Least to say, the disappointment was obvious on Irfan considering that he had been playing well in the last several friendlies for Indonesia.
âMy dream is over but my team-mates can still make my dream (of winning the AFF Suzuki Cup for Indonesia) come true. And I will be praying for them to play very well in the competition,â said Irfan.
For the AFF Suzuki Cup, Indonesia are in Group A against hosts the Philippines, Thailand and Singapore.
With the absence of Irfan, head coach of Indonesia Alfred Riedl has decided to call on Ferinando Pahabol from Persipura Jayapura.
