– Twenty Youth Players from Ten Countries Selected to Compete in Second Jr. NBA Global Championship in U.S. Aug. 6-11 at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World in Florida –
Malaysiaâs Chong Phui Khee fills one of the ten slots in the girls division to represent the Asia Pacific region following her stellar performance at the recent trial camp that was held on 15 and 16 June 2019.
However, the lass from the Malaysia Sports School Pahang (SSMP) has her own personal target when she competes against the worldâs best athletes in Florida.
âNaturally, I am very happy and proud that I was selected to represent not only Malaysia but also for the Asia Pacific region. It is important for me that I look at the skills and abilities of players from around the world as that will allow me to hone my skills further,â said Phui Kee.
The Perak-born cager first get the basketball nudge five years ago when she started playing at a court near her home town in Perak. And from there, she never looked back.
And after getting formal education in the sport through teachers at her school, Phui Keeâs ability was improved even further as she went on to minimize mistakes to improve her game.
Other than Phui Khee, the other Malaysian representative is Eman Ajmal Jamil â after NBA announced the 10 boys and 10 girls for the Asia Pacific region in the second Jr. NBA Global Championship, a youth basketball tournament for the top 13- and 14-year-old boys and girls teams from around the world that will be held Aug. 6-11 at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World near Orlando, Florida.
The 20 youth players were chosen following a two-day section camp in Indonesia from June 15-16. The camp featured 68 participants from 10 countries across the region and focused on technical and tactical skills development in addition to five-on-five competition.    Â

The Jr. NBA Global Championship will feature boys and girls divisions, separated into U.S. and international brackets that begin with round-robin play and continue with single-elimination competition. The winners of the U.S. and international brackets will play in the global championship games on Aug. 11. During the weeklong event, all 32 teams will participate in activities designed to reinforce the Jr. NBAâs core values and provide the players with development opportunities and memorable experiences off the court, including life skills sessions, Disney park visits and a community service project.
