Twelve golds will be up for grabs in the 2017 SEA Games sepaktakraw competition and Malaysia are hoping to increase its one gold medal achievement in Singapore 2015, setting their sights on the regu and quadrant event.
The absence of Thailand, Myanmar and Indonesia in the regu competition puts Malaysia in the best position to retain the gold. Malaysia won the regu gold and a silver in the team competition.
Saturday’s SEA Games 2017 sepaktakraw draw opens up hopes for the host to increase its gold medal collection in Kuala Lumpur.
Sepaktakraw Association of Malaysia (STAM) Assistant Secretary 2 Datuk Yusof Ali said: “As host, we have the advantage to choose our group. This has been the practice and I believe, based on the draw, we have a great chance here.”
The sepaktakraw competition offers a total of eight gold medals – regu (men and women); men’s team regu; doubles (men and women); men’s team doubles; and quadrant (men and women). The other four gold medals are
?in? chinlone events?, namely ? non-repetition primary, same-stroke, chinlone-linking and non-repetition secondary.
