# A 2-1 win gives Kelantan the last Malaysia cup slot in Super League

# Perak clinch to second place after Pahang and Terengganu fall

Relegated Kelantan shocked Pahang 2-1 at the Sultan Mohd IV Stadium, Kota Bahru in their final Super League to clinch the 11th and final slot in the Super League.

Pahang’s defeat in Kota Bahru and Terengganu’s defeat to Selangor at the KLFA Stadium in Cheras was also good news for Perak who retained their second spot in the league with 36 points.

Only Pahang and Terengganu, with 34 points each, would have dislodged Perak if they had won their respective matches. Instead, PKNS FC, 4-1 winners over Perak on Saturday, finished in third place with 35 points with Pahang and Terengganu fourth and fifth with 34 points each, separated by goal difference.

In a do or die mission against Pahang, the FA Cup champions, Kelantan staged a remarkable performance for their home fans to end their Super League campaign in 11th place in the 12-team league.

Kelantan’s 18 points from 22 points were enough for the Red Warriors to ply their trade in the Malaysia Cup in a season that saw the team hog the limelight for wrong reasons, including changing coaches and the non-payment of salaries for players and officials.

Goals in each half by Danial Ashraf (42nd) and Shafiq Shaharuddin (76th) were enough for the Red Warriors for victory. Austin Amutu scored Pahang’s consolation goal in the 65t minute.

Selangor earned full points against the Turtles with goals by Syahmi safari (72nd) and Spaniard hitman Rufino Segovia (90th) to finish in eighth place with 27 points.

At the Darulaman Stadium in Alor Setar, it was a disappointment for the home fans as Kedah fell to an embarrassing 3-1 defeat to PKNP (Perak SEDC). Kedah ended their league campaign in sixth place with 32 points while PKNP finished ninth with 25 points. RIZAL ABDULLAH
