AC Milan moved up into tenth place in the Italian Serie A standings after thrashing high-flying Sassuolo 4-1 on Sunday.
Sassuolo looked for a victory that would take them back up into second place in the Italian Serie A standings when AC Milan visited Mapei Stadium on Sunday.
Both sides created clear sights of goal in the first half, but it was Milan that broke the deadlock six minutes before half-time.
Franck Kessie picked up the ball deep inside his own half and came out on top in a 50-50 challenge with Manuel Locatelli before surging forward.
Sassuolo’s defence backed off and Kessie took full advantage of their generosity, dribbling to the edge of the home side’s penalty and rifling a shot past goalkeeper Andrea Consigli.
Suso doubled the lead with a fine strike four minutes into the second half after Sassuolo had once again been caught on the break.
Samu Castillejo then made it 3-0 on the hour-mark, beating Consigli from the edge of the penalty area after more hesitant Sassuolo defending.
Substitute Filip Duricic pulled a goal back midway through the second half with a shot on the turn, only for Milan to restore their three-goal advantage in the fourth minute of stoppage time, when Suso completed his brace.
A free kick from the Spaniard came back off the defensive wall, but the rebound fell kindly for Suso, who’s shot went in with the help of a large deflection off Locatelli.
The goal was awarded by Referee Piero Giacomelli following a VAR review and Suso’s shot would be the final kick of the match – Milan moving up into the top half of the Serie A table on the back of the 4-1 win. SNTV
