The Negara Ku was heard loud and clear and the Jalur Gemilang was presented to national shuttlers who will compete in the this year’s World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland and the 29th Sea Games in Kuala Lumpur.
 
Leading the pack was national badminton legend Datuk Wira Lee Chong Wei who will be playing in the World Championships together with men’s doubles pair Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong. The world meet is from Aug 21-27.
 
Chong Wei is seeded second in the world meet – behind top seed Son Wan-ho of Korea while V Shem-Wee Kiong are seeded fifth in the men’s doubles.
The trio won the silver medal in last year’s Rio Olympics in their respective events.
Also at the prize giving ceremony at the All Malaysia 2017 Badminton Championships Finals at the Quill City Mall in Kuala Lumpur were Sea Games bound shuttlers – Goh Jin Wei, Chan Peng Soon and his former partner Goh Liu Ying.
 
Liu Ying, however, will not be playing in the Sea Games as she recovering from her right shoulder injury which needed surgery in Germany.
 
All the 100PLUS Ambassadors gave away the prizes to the overall winners in the All Malaysia 2017 Badminton Team Championship over three circuits – in Penang (Berapit Badminton Hall, Bukit Mertajam), Kuala Lumpur (Pioneer Badminton Academy, 1 Shamelin) and Melaka (Jebat Racquet Sports Centre, Ayer Keroh).
 
The national shuttlers drew the biggest applause as they went on stage to give away the prizes – much to the delight of the big turnout of fans who made their way to the Mall.
