Sabah Tennis is always finding ways to promote and scout talent from among school kids.

Last year Sabah was a very proud year for Sabah Tennis  as our very own junior was ranked number ONE in Asia in the 14 years age category.

This is the first for Malaysia in any category to be ranked number ONE in Asia.

STA’s and KKLTA’s efforts with the help of the late Ajit Mannan have begun to bear  fruit.

Datuk Sam Mannan, Ajit’s brother have continued this legacy on behalf of Ajit.

Future tennis development depends on the existing officials to work on them now. Sabah  must continue to look for future players, but the district officials must do their part in organizing more junior events.

Let there be a desire to work  on the kids and young, but  of course we always keep track with the senior players and the veterans as well.

All associations must ensure the healthy relationship among all tennis players regardless of race, religion, creed or color. The existing relationship between the corporate and government sectors must always be enhanced for the good of tennis.

Parents must be encouraged to let their kids play tennis. This has to be supported by the media in inseminating positive news and track record of the activities of the association.

This year’s  newest affiliate is the Ranau district who have reregistered themselves after a lapse of 5 years.

Lahad Datu and Papar who miss last year’s tournament came with full support. District tennis officials must be proactive to promote tennis. Officials who cannot must not warm their seats only but do something good for tennis.

The matches started at the Likas tennis courts from 8.30 morning until the last match in the evening. All the district teams are in very eager spirits and are fighting it out in the tennis courts in the sporting tennis way.
