Malaysian athlete in weight lifting, Muhd Azroy Hazalwafie has glittered gold in the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre.
The 22-year-old from Pahang, who came in fourth in the 56kg class of the KL2017 Games – one kg behind bronze medallist Witoon Mingmoon of Thailand, was quick to bounce back with a combined 253kg total in the field of 14 weightlifters.
Hazalwafie accumulated with 117kg in the snatch lift and 136kg in the clean and jerk event to stay ahead of silver medallist Jayasooriya of Sri Lanka (247kg) and India’s Gururaja (246kg).
Meanwhile, compatriot Mohd Zaidi Nordin of Kelantan has clinched the bronze in the 62kg category with a 115kg Snatch and 155kg in the Clean and Jerk.
