National diving head coach Yang Zhuliang believes more Malaysian synchronised divers will qualify for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics in Brazil at the World Cup in Rio, next February.

Zhuliang said the World Cup in Rio would be the last chance for Malaysian divers to qualify for the Olympics.

“I hope we (Malaysia) can send a few quality divers to Rio and I hope they will perform better than the previous London Olympics in 2012. The World Cup will be our last chance, I hope Pandelela Rinong and Cheong Jun Hoong will perform their best in synchro events,” he told reporters at the National Aquatic Center in Bukit Jalil, Sunday.

He said the performances of divers was getting better even though diver, Cheong Jun Hoong’s ankle is still weak due to an injury. – BERNAMA
