UiTM, the Division 1 champions of the TNB-QNET Selangor Hockey League, moved up the top of the standings when they chalked up three wins from three matches played thus far in the season. And this week, they came back from two goals down to beat United Ace 4-2.
Uitm faced a determined Uniten Ace who delivered a shockedr when they grabbed the early lead in the ninth minute through a Mohd Haikal Zamri field goal. Uniten Ace then doubled their lead at the start of the second quarter off a well-placed Mohd Rifdi Syimir 16th minute deflection.
The goal rocked UiTM into action and this saw former international Iman Gobinathan nailing a double in the 20th and 28th minute to level the score going into half time.
UiTM began to pressure the Uniten Ace defense and two minute to the end of the third quarter, UiTM were awarded a penalty corner that was converted by Mohd Firdaus Omar to give them a 3-2 lead.
Iman Gobinathan got his hattrick on the 49th minute thru another penalty corner conversion to secure UiTM a 4-2 victory.
Hot on UiTM heels were KJLJD, whose unbeaten run was thwarted by a hardworking MBPJ Team.
MBPJ’s former international Baljit Singh was the hero for his team, as his penalty corner conversion were too much for KJLJD to handle. Baljit Singh scored in the 10th and 43rd minute before KJLJD pulled one back in the 48th minute thruough a Khairil Johari field goal.
Baljit was not to be denied his hattrick as two minutes from time he scored again through a penalty corner conversion.
