The Indonesian Liga 1 is back on – a week after the decision was made to postpone it.

The decision to resume the top flight in the country was made after the FA of Indonesia (PSSI) passed out punishments on club Persib Bandung for the death of a Persija Jakarta fan – Haringga Sirla – last month.

The Indonesia Liga 1 will restart on 5 October 2018.

In the meantime, Persib Bandung have been slapped with a string of fines and bans over the behaviour of their club officials and also fans.

The Disciplinary Committee of the FA of Indonesia (PSSI) have ordered Persib to play all their remaining matches for Liga 1 2018 outside of the island of Java – specifically in Kalimantan – and without spectators.

And for half of the 2019 season, Persib will play all their matches in Bandung without spectators.

Persib fans will also not be allowed to go for any away games from now until the end of the first half of the 2019 Liga 1 season.

Persib’s local organising chairman and the security officer have been banned for two years from taking part in any match organisation.

The club has also been fined IDR 100,000,000 (USD 6,600) where they have been told to do more in combating racism, provocative posters, words and slogans on tshirts and the likes.

The suspects involved in the death of Haringga, who are now in police custody, have been banned from watching any matches in Indonesia for the remainder of their lives.
