The Red Eagles had their wings clipped in their 2-3 defeat to Felda United in the return leg FA Cup semi-final at the Tun Abdul Razak Stadium in Jengka on Sunday but stayed alive on away goals to reach the July 27 final.

In the final Kedah will face Perak for the silverware. Perak had upset defending champions Pahang 4-3 on aggregate after winning the second leg 3-0 in Ipoh on Saturday. Pahang had won the first-leg in Kuantan 3-1.

With Kedah 1-0 winners in the first-leg at the Darulaman Stadium in Alor Setar on June 22, the two-leg semi-finals ended 3-3 on aggregate but it was enough for the Red Eagles to advance on away goals to keep their date at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.

It was 3-0 on aggregate for Kedah when Fernando Rodriguez converted a 27th-minute penalty followed Farhan Roslan’s goal on 37 minutes and the Red Eagles were in cruise mode on the artificial turf.

However, all this changed after the break as The Fighters fought back into the picture and a possible upset was on the cards when Thiago Aquino scored in the 65th minute and S. Chanturu fired home the second on 72 minutes to make it 2-2 on the night with Kedah still in front 3-2 on aggregate.

It was 3-3 on aggregate when Felda skipper Hadin Azman scored the third deep into four minutes of added time before time robbed The Fighters aa Kedah rode on away goals. RIZAL ABDULLAH
