It was a night of red cards and missed penalties when the Malaysian Super League resumed after a two-week break for international assignments with defending champions and leaders Johor Darul Takzim seeing red in their 1-1 draw against PKNP (Perak SEDC) in a hotly contested match at the Manjung Municipal Council Stadium.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw with the Southern Tigers also seeing red when Afiq Fazail was given the marching orders for a second bookable offense in the 77th minute – 11 minutes after Gonzalo Cabrera ballooned his spot kick.
JDT took an early fourth-minute lead through Diogo Luis Santos with a well-drilled shot that beat goalkeeper Khairul Thafiq Shah. PKNP drew level on 14 minutes through Ramon da Silva.
At the Tun Abdul Razak Stadium in Jengka visitors PKNS FC paid a heavy price in their 5-4 defeat the hands of relegation-threatened Felda United when Gabriel Guerra failed to score from a penalty just before the half-time break.
Singapore international Khairul Amri hit a brace for The Fighters with two quick goals in the 52nd and 56th minutes. Felda took an early fourth-minute lead through Thiago Junio before skipper Hadin Azman added the second on 44 minutes to wipe out PKNS equalizer through Kpah Sherman (15th). Faiz Mazlan added the fifth goal in the 47th minute.
PKNS came back strong but goals by Tamirlan Kozubaev (60th), Muhammad Jafri Chew (71st) and Rodney Akwensive (81st) could not stop defeat in the high-scoring match.
Pahang and Kedah fought out a scoreless draw at the Darulaman Stadium in Alor Setar but both teams remained in second and third place in the 12-team league with 27 and 23 points respectively. JDT lead the table with 40 points.
Petaling Jaya City FC also saw red in their home match against Perak at the Petaling Jaya Stadium in Kelana Jaya after skipper S.Subramaniam was sent off for an early shower after 67minutes for a second yellow card.
Perak walked away with full points with new signing Ronaldo Henrique Silva netting the winner on 19 minutes off an assist by Raiainderson Morais. The two Brazilians were signed in the recent second transfer window. – BY RIZAL ABDULLAH
