* N. Sembilan beat Kuantan FA 3-1, Penang beat K.Lumpur 1-0 to share lead with 10 points
Johor Darul Takzim’s three-match unbeaten run in the Premier League competition with a 3-1 defeat to T-Team at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium in Kuala Terengganu on Friday.
In the process the Johor outfit also surrendered their place at the top of the 12-team league to Negri Sembilan who carved out a 3-1 win over Kuantan FA at the Darul Makmur Stadium in Kuantan. N. Sembilan are on top of the table with 10 points – ahead of Penang, 1-0 winners over Kuala Lumpur, on goal difference.
JDT and Sabah, 4-1 winners over KL SPA Putrajaya at the Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu, are third and fourth respectively on nine points with goal difference separating the two teams.
T-Team, known as the Titans, showed their 3-0 win over Super League’s Armed Forces in a second round FA Cup match at the same venue last week, was no flash in the pan, with a comfortable win over JDT II after Farhod Tadjiev gave them a 1-0 lead at halftime from a penalty.
Two minutes into the second half it was 2-0 for T-Team and again it was Farhod who got his name into the scoresheet. JDT II pulled one back on 71 minutes but Nor Hakim Hassan killed off any fightback by the visitors with T-Team’s third goal.
Negri Sembilan, under coach K. Devan rode on a brace by Francis Forkey Doe (5th and 71st minutes) after former international Shahrizal Saad opened scoring with a first minute goal. Milan Purovic netted Kuantan’s consolation goal.
Sabah maybe inconsistent but the East Malaysians put aside their 3-0 drubbing by Police in the FA Cup last week to stay within the leaders with a 4-1 win over KL SPA Putrajaya. The Rhinos scored their goals through Zuraindey Jumai, Leopold Alphonso, Eamon Zayed and Izwan Salhuddin. The visitors got their goal through Raja Mohd Hafillah.
UiTM FC coach Azuan Zain was fuming mad after seeing his team slump to a 3-1 defeat to DRB Hicom at UiTM Stadium in Shah Alam in an afternoon match.
“This is our worse performance so far. I am very disappointed losing the match at our home venue,” said Azuan.
DRB Hicom goalscorers were Aris Zaidi (9th), Fakrullah Rosli (22nd), and Ivan Babic (66th). UiTM netted their solitary goal through Abdi Kassim.
In another afternoon match, Kedah lost 1-2 to PKNS FC at the Petaling Jaya Stadium in Kelana Jaya – leaving coach Tan Cheng Hoe a disappointed man.
Cheng Hoe, a former international said: “Football is all about scoring. When you don’t score from the chances you pay the price.”
Malacca-born Faderin Kadir, a former international opened scoring for PKNS on 14 minutes before Gabriel Guerra doubled the score with goal No 2 two minutes before time. Kedah reduced the deficit through Syafiq Ahmad in injury.
At the City Stadium, Penang collected full points through a Faiz Subri goal after 38 minutes to defeat the City Boys.
