Melaka United’s new signing Ifedayo Olusegun headed home the winner in the 90th-minute for his team in a come-from-behind 2-1 win over PKNP FC (Perak SEDC) in Tuesday’s Super League match at the Perak Stadium in Ipoh on Tuesday.

The win threw Melaka a lifeline as E. Elavarasan’s team moved to the seventh spot in the league standings with 20 points after 16 matches on a night when Pahang and PKNS FC added more misery to Negri Sembilan and Kelantan in their relegation battle.

Pahang defeated N. Sembilan 3-1 at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi while PKNS handed Kelantan a 2-0 defeat at the Sultan Mohd IV Stadium in Kota Bahru.

For Melaka, it was a win they were looking for after the 4-2 defeat to Kuala Lumpur at home on June 9.

PKNP took the lead in the 56th minute through their influential skipper Shahrel Fikri but Melaka drew level on 65 minutes through yet another new signing Lee Chang-hoon from Korea.

The match was heading for a draw until Nigerian Olusegun popped in the header off a cross by Belarus forward Yahor Zoubovich in the last minute of play for the winner and three points.

PKNS also had a hero in their new signing Bruno Oliveira Matos who scored a brace against Kelantan. The Brazilian was on target in the third and 86th minutes.

At the KLFA Stadium in Cheras, Selangor and Perak shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw with Selangor skipper Amri Yahyah netting the equalizer via a freekick on 81 minutes.

Perak rode on an own goal by Selangor defender Alfonso Calero who turned the ball into his own net while trying to cut off a cross by Nor Hakim in the 42nd minute. – BY RIZAL ABDULLAH
