# Malaysia Cup champions eyeing Ronaldinho
# PKNS will be stronger next season – Elavarasan
Newly crowned Malaysia Cup champions Selangor are making massive changes to the team for the new season which could affect Premier League outfit PKNS FC.
The Red Giants want Liberian international Patrick Ronaldinho Wleh – a key figure in PKNS coach E. Elavarasan’s team. It is disheartening to Elavarasan and company who finished fourth in the second-tier Premier League.
In the prestigious Malaysia Cup competition PKNS reached the quarter-finals before bowing out to Kedah 4-2 on aggregate after a 3-1 defeat at home in the second-leg. The first-leg in Alor Setar ended in a 1-1 draw.
“Selangor have made their intentions known that they want Ronaldinho for the new season. I understand their request because they will also be playing in the AFC Cup and need the best players to beef up their team,” said Elavarasan who has a two-year contract with PKNS which runs through 2016.
Elavarasan, however, is not letting the prospect of losing Ronaldinho for his team’s M-League next season.
Instead, Elavarasan is looking at a better showing from his team in 2016 with an eye on a top two finish which comes with promotion to the elite Super League.
This year PKNS could only manage a fourth place – behind champions Kedah, runners-up Penang and T-Team finishing third. Kedah and Penang will play in the Super League next season.
Kedah also finished runners-up in the Malaysia Cup competition – losing 2-0 to Selangor in the final.
