Indonesia head coach Luis Milla attributed the team’s defeat in the opening game of the Anniversary Cup 2018 on Friday night to being a little slow off the gate.

The Indonesian national Under-23 succumbed to a 1-0 loss to their counterparts from Bahrain with the only goal of the game coming off Mohamed Marhoon early in the fifth minute at the Pakansari Stadium.

“We did not play well in the first ten minutes of the game. And because we were slow in getting into the rhythm, it allowed Bahrain to score the only goal of the game,” said Milla.

“But after that we recovered and gave Bahrain some anxious moments. This is definitely a good lesson for the players on the importance of getting down to work right from the start.”

Indonesia’s next game is against is against DPR Korea (on Monday), who held Uzbekistan to a 2-2 draw in their first match of the Anniversary Cup.
