KUALA TERENGGANU – Terengganu’s SMK Bukit Nenas created history this year when they made the final of both the Under-14 and also the Under-17 leagues.

The U14 squad, who held SMK Syed Hassan of Perlis to a 2-2 draw on the road the previous week, suffered no such drama in the return leg in Kuala Terengganu when they whitewashed their opponents 3-0.

The goals came off Muhammad Hilmi Shahrul Nizam Hamdan in the 27th minute, Zulfadli Hassan (23rd minute) and Nor Amirul Awang (70th minute.

“The players were very confident playing at home and it showed,” said Nordin Ahmad, the coach of SMK Bukit Nenas.

“We have just a few days to prepare for the final but we are looking forward to another good performance playing in front of our home fans.”

Following the outright win at the Mini Stadium of the SMK Bukit Nenas, the home team will advanced to the final which will be played on 29 Oct where they will take on defending champions SMK Mutiara Impian of Penang.

SMK Mutiara Impian held out for a scoreless draw against Melaka’s SMK Seri Kota to ensure that their 2-1 advantage from the first leg was enough for them to make the passage to the final.

In the meantime in the U17 league, SMK Bukit Nenas followed the pace which has been set to beat SMK Syed Hassan of Perlis 3-1 for an aggregate 4-2 victory.

The home team found the target through Muhammad Aqil Irfanuddin Mohd Sabri early in the 12th minute before Mohamad Raimi Syahir Muhamad grabbed a brace off goals in the 61st and 68th minute.

SMK Syed Hassan’s goal came in the 27th minute off Muhd Azrie Reza Zamri.

“It is not over yet, there’s still the final to play for,” added Zainuddin Md. Zain, the head coach of defending champions SMK Bukit Nenas.

“We have to draw up a proper game plan for the final match where we can see that the Sarawak side (SMK Tabuan Jaya) has been very consistent throughout the knock-out stage. We have to be more disciplined.”

SMK Tabuan Jaya, who had stopped Bukit Jalil Sports School by a solitary goal in the first leg the previous week, were in commanding form at home when they thrashed the same opponents 3-0 in the return tie for an aggregate 4-0 victory.

The goals for the boys from Tabuan Jaya came from Nick Rayhnolde Niclaisen in the 25th minute, Mohd Azri Razali (27th) and Darren Damu Anak Usah (81st).
