BWF Jati World Junior Championships 2014 Logo      It will be an all-China final between Shi Yuqi and Lin Gui Pu for the boys’ singles title in the World Junior Championships at the Sultan Abdul Halim Stadium in Alor Star on Friday.

The Chinese duo booked their place in the final after achieving contrasting results in their semi-final matches on Thursday.

Second seeded Shi Yuqi was taken the full distance by Indonesia’s Ginting Anthony before winning 19-21, 21-13, 21-14 in a match which lasted 58 minutes. Gui Pu, who toppled top seed and favourite Christie Jonathan of Indonesia 21-17, 21-18 in the quarter-finals, had an easier match against teammate Zhao Jun Peng, the joint third seed. He won 21-12, 21-19 win in 24 minutes.

The girls’ singles final will be between top seed Akane Yamaguchi of Japan and China’s He Bing Jiao, the joint fifth seed.
Bing Jiao prevented an all-Japan final when she upset joint third seed Aya Ohori with a 21-13, 21-19 win while Yamaguchi came back from a set down to beat China’s Qin Jinjing 19-21, 21-13, 21-14 in a 58 minute battle.

The boys’ doubles final will see Japan’s Masahide Nakata-Katsuki Tamate battling Thailand’s Puavaranukroh Dechapol-Ketlen Kittinupong. The unseeded Japanese upset joint ninth seeds Muhammad Rian Adrianto-Hendrik K. Clinton of Indonesia 15-21, 22-20, 21-18. The Thais, seeded joint third, stopped the Korean challenge of Kim Jae Hwan-Kim Jung Ho with a 21-14, 21-18 win.

China were denied an all-China final in the girls’ doubles. Indonesia’s Apriani Apriani- Rosyita Eka Putri Sari upset Jiang Binbin-Tang Pingyang (seeded joint fifth) 21-13, 21-16 after top seed Cheng Qingchen-Jia Yifan beat teammates Du Yue-Li Yin Hue 21-11, 21-14.

In the mixed doubles semi-finals top seeds Huang Kaixing-Chen Qingchen beat Yuta Watanabe-Arisa Higashino of Japan 21-18, 21-12. In the other semi-final match Indonesians Muhammad Rian Adrinato-Rostita Eka Putri Sari ran out easy 21-12, 21-13 winners over Korea’s Park Kyung Hoon-Park Keun Hye.
