Former champions Yadanarbon FC have taken the early lead in the Myanmar National League (MNL) 2018 as they capitalised on the scoreless draw suffered by holders Shan United.

Shan, the defending champions of the MNL, were held 0-0 by Zwekapin as they allowed Yadanarbon to grab the lead after thrashing Ayeyawady United 5-2.

International Sithu Aung was on target four times with goals in the eighth,  58th, 83rd and 88th penalty as Myat Kaung Khant grabbed the other in the 45th minute of play.

Edubat Patrick scored twice for Ayeyawady in the 75th and 85th penalty.

In the meantime, Yangon United took second at the table after beating Hantharwady United 2-1 with goals from    Kosuke Uchida in the 43rd minute and Sekou Sylla (63rd) at the Grand Royal Stadium in Bago.

Nigerian defender Micheal Henry pulled a goal back for Hantharwady United on 66 minute.

Elsewhere, Myawadi were held 0-0 by Magwe as Sagaing were also held scoreless by Rakhine.
