Kedah FA - logoLeaders Kedah were held to a 1-1 draw by PKNS FC at home but the northern state remained at the top of the Premier League with 35 points on a night went second-placed T-Team were hammered 4-1 by JDT 11 away while third placed Penang slumped 2-0 to Kuala Lumpur away on Friday.

It was a big blow for T-Team, known as the Titans, who were outclassed by JDT II at the Pasir Gudang Gudang on a wet pitch on a day when heavy rains saw flash floods hit the Johor Bahru city centre.

The big defeat was demoralising for the Terengganu outfit but luckily for them PKNS FC put the brakes on Kedah at the Darulaman Stadium to share points. Kedah defeated Terengganu 2-0 away before the break to take top spot.

PKNS went ahead through Pedro Henrique in the 21st minute before Liridon Krasniqi scored deep into injury time in the first half to the joy of Kedah supporters.

It was a whitewash for T-Team after Shafiq Sharuddin, son of former international Shahruddin Abdullah opened scoring in the 14th minute. Even when Tomislav Busic evened up things for T-Team off a penalty in the 21st minute the homesters were never in doubt of a win.

JDT II took a 2-1 lead at halftime with skipper Shahril Ishak finding the net in added time. After the break it was JDT’s game with Baihakki Khaizan and Akmal Ishak finding the net in the 48th and and 61st minutes respectively.

KL SPA Putrajaya – under new coach Ken Worden at the helm – roared to an upset 3-0 win over Sabah at the Petaling Jaya Stadium in Kelana Jaya in an afternoon match. KL SPA did the damage in the second half with goals by Rodion Dyachenko (65th), Nor Azizi Azman (77th) and Khairul Azry Abdul Rahman (8st). It was KL SPA’s first win 16 matches.

Penang suffered an embarassing 2-0 defeat to Kuala Lumpur. South Korean striker gave KL SPA the lead in the 62nd minute before Pritam Singh added the second in the 87th minute.

Negri Sembilan got past Kuantan FA 2-0 with Francis Forkey Doe netting a brace – with the first goal coming in the 45th
minute and added a second via a penalty in the 65th minute.

Kedah have 35 points after 16 matches with T-Team in second place with 33 points followed by Penang in third spot (29 points) and PKNS FC and JDT II fourth and fifth with 27 points each separated by goal difference.
