The 29th SEA Games and 9th ASEAN Para Games Kuala Lumpur 2017 received another shot in the arm with NAZA Corporation Holdings Sdn Bhd coming on board as a Platinum Sponsor of the biennial Games in August, next year.

NAZA Corporation Holdings Sdn Bhd today (25 July 2016) signed the Sponsorship agreement with the Malaysian SEA Games Organising Committee (MASOC) in Putrajaya, providing its fleet of Peugeot cars as the Official Cars of the Kuala Lumpur 2017.

The sponsorship agreement, worth a total of RM 12.5 million, was signed by Encik SM Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin, Naza Group of Companies Joint Group Executive Chairman and Group Chief Executive Officer while MASOC was represented by Dato’ Lokman Hakim Ali, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Present to witness the signing ceremony were YB Khairy Jamaluddin, Minister of Youth and Sports and Dato’ Seri Zolkples Embong, Chief Executive Officer of MASOC.

Under the agreement, Naza is to provide its fleet of 250 Peugeot cars and vans which will be utilised by MASOC to shuttle Head of States, Ministers, Chef de Missions, senior officials and athletes before and during the Games.

“It is an honour and privilege for Naza to be chosen as one of the major partners of Kuala Lumpur 2017. We have been looking to participate in an event of a national level for a while now. When we were offered this opportunity, we immediately saw that this is a key platform to promote not only Naza, but one of our flagship brands, Peugeot, to the ASEAN region”, said SM Nasarudin.

“As safety is one of the most paramount attributes Peugeot represents, we are set to provide the Head of States, Ministers, Chef de Missions, senior officials and sportsmen the experience of traveling safely in style and comfort”, he added.

Meanwhile, Youth and Sports Minister YB Encik Khairy Jamaluddin noted that having an efficient transportation system is one of the core aspects of organising major Games. As such, Naza’s commitment in providing vehicles for the biennial Games is paramount.

“Naza has been involved in many major events and we are thankful that Naza has agreed to come forward to join the Kuala Lumpur 2017 family as our Platinum Sponsor. The Games will present Naza with enormous branding opportunities as well as testament to its high spirit of patriotism,” said YB Khairy.

At the same function, YB Khairy announced that apart from vehicle sponsorship, Naza provided another boost to the Organisers by agreeing to have the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), as one of the Games clusters.

Developed by Naza TTDI, MITEC, located in the heart of the KL Metropolis development, is said to be about 10 times the size of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) in terms of gross floor area. It has 11 exhibition halls, a multipurpose hall, meeting and conference rooms, media and press facilities, VIP lounges, restaurants and food outlets.

MITEC, which replaces the Putra World Trade Centre cluster, will provide venues for several indoor sports as well as the Games’ Main Press Centre and the International Broadcast Centre.

Bukit Jalil Sports Complex and Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre remained as the other two clusters.

The Kuala Lumpur 2017 Sponsorship package offers companies four tiers of sponsorship which include Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze Sponsors.

The Kuala Lumpur 2017 Games, featuring 38 sports and 405 events, will take place from 19 to 31 August 2017 in various venues in Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan and Langkawi while the 9th ASEAN Para Games which will have 16 sports contested, have been slated from 17 to 23 Sept 2017.
