Iranian pair PersepolisĀ and Naft Tehran, Qatar champions Lekhwiya, Saudi Arabiaā€™sĀ Al Nassr, Uzbekistanā€™s Pakhtakor, Chinaā€™s ShandongĀ Luneng, Thailandā€™s Buriram United and former continentalĀ champions Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors and GambaĀ Osaka will battle it out for the five remaining places inĀ the last 16 AFC Champions League on Wednesday.

Persepolis currentlyĀ occupy second spot in Group A and sit just a point behindĀ table-topping Lekhwiya despiteĀ  losing 3-0 to the QatarĀ champions a fortnight ago, but Al Nassr are only a pointĀ behind ensuring a grandstand finish on theĀ final Matchday.

And Saudi ArabianĀ champions Al Nassr must at least draw against a LekhwiyaĀ side who still need to avoid defeat to ensure their ownĀ qualification, while also hoping Persepolis fail to win inĀ Tehran to stand any chance of making theirĀ first appearance in the Round of 16 since 2011.

ā€œWe still have aĀ chance to qualify from the group as we have an importantĀ match against Bunyodkor,ā€ said Persepolis coach BrankoĀ Ivankovic following the Matchday Five defeat in Qatar.

ā€œTheĀ defeatĀ affected our chances and that is why we shouldĀ study our mistakes and fix them before the finalĀ match.ā€

Bunyodkor defendersĀ Hayrulla Karimov and Anvar Gafurov will be absent from theĀ tie at the Azadi Stadium due to suspension.

Al Nassr, meanwhile,Ā will be without suspended Saudi Arabia striker Mohammed AlĀ Sahlawi and midfielder Ibrahim Ghaleb, while defenderĀ Mohammed Tresor is ruled out for Lekhwiya.

Elsewhere, inauguralĀ AFC Champions League winners Al Ain from the United ArabĀ Emirates,Ā Naft, Pakhtakor and AlĀ Shabab will all have their parts to play in the concludingĀ ties in Group B.

Although Al Ain haveĀ already secured their passage to the last 16, theĀ newly-crowned Emirati champions will face second placed NaftĀ at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium looking to secure top spot andĀ home advantage in the second leg of their lastĀ 16 tie later this month.

However, with PakhtakorĀ just two points behind Naft in third, a victory for theĀ Uzbek club over already-eliminated Al Shabab of Saudi ArabiaĀ could see them leapfrog Naft and take the remaining ticketĀ to the knockout stages if the IraniansĀ were to lose in Al Ain.

Pakhtakor will, though,Ā have to play their part in this scenario without theĀ services of defender Egor Krimets who isĀ suspended.Ā

Jeonbuk and Shandong,Ā meanwhile, face a winner-take-all showdown in Jeonju toĀ decide who will join Group E winners Kashiwa Reysol of JapanĀ in the last 16.

Shandongā€™s win overĀ already-eliminated Vietnamese champions Becamex Binh Duong aĀ fortnight ago was matched by Jeonbukā€™s narrow defeat toĀ Kashiwa which leaves the two sides separated by just aĀ point.

Jeonbuk, though, willĀ be without suspended midfielder Lee Ho and defender ChoĀ Sung-hwan for the visit of the Chinese Super League side,Ā who have midfielder Zhang Chi also suspended.

ā€œWe must have aĀ perfect game in Korea to qualify. I know it is going beĀ difficult, but we will try our best,ā€ said Shandong coachĀ Cuca.

Unbeaten formerĀ semi-finalists Kashiwa, meanwhile, will wrap up their groupĀ stage campaign with a visit to Binh Duong.

Finally in Group F, both Gamba and BuriramĀ remain in the hunt for the remaining place in the last 16Ā alongside Koreaā€™s Seongnam FC.Ā

Seongnam secured their place in the last 16 aĀ fortnight ago, but the two-time continental champions willĀ look to clinch the group with a visit to a Gamba side whoĀ must match Buriramā€™s result against already-eliminatedĀ Guangzhou R&F of China to advance with the pairĀ currently level on points but with the Japanese side holdingĀ the crucial head-to-head advantage.

There is the possibility of Seongnam, Gamba andĀ Buriram finishing level on points at the top of the table,Ā although the K-League Classic side are ensured of progressĀ in at least second place due to their head-to-headĀ record against the pair.

CAPTIONĀ ā€“ Iranā€™sĀ Persepolis lost 3-0 to Qatarā€™s Lekhwiya last month, butĀ Branko Ivankovicā€™s side can still qualify for the last 16Ā of the AFC Champions League with victory over Uzbekistanā€™sĀ Bunyodkor on Wednesday in Group A.
