
The Malaysian men’s team reached the final of the badminton team event at the SEA Games 2025 after beating host Thailand 3-1 in the semifinals at the Thammasat Gymnasium in Rangsit.
In the final on Wednesday, Malaysia will take on defending champions Indonesia following the latter’s 3-1 victory over Singapore.
Leong Jun Hao was up against a gargantuan task in the first match, having to take on world No. 3, Kunlavut Vitidsarn.
To be fair Jun Hao puts up some tough resistance before conceding the 15-21, 15-21 loss in 56 minutes.
However, world No. 2 Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik leveled the series when they defeated Supak Jomkoh-Peeratchai Sukphun 21-18, 21-19.
Second singles player Justin Hoh then recorded a 21-10, 21-17 victory over Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul to put Malaysia 2-1 in front.
It was then down to Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun, who made sure of the semifinal win after defeating the pair of Dechapol Puavannukroh-Pakkapon Teeraratsakul 21-14, 18-21, 21-17.
