Two second-half goals were enough to deliver Thailand the title in the ASEAN Under-19 Boys’ Futsal Championship 2025 when they beat Indonesia 3-1 in the final at the Nonthaburi Hall.
The score was 1-1 at the end of a tense first half with Poompuchid Huab-Um scoring for Thailand in the 17th minute, only for Muhammad Robby Faturrahman to level for Indonesia three minutes later.
But the break would prove pivotal as Thailand then upped their game to strike twice through Sorrawit Sirisawas in the 21st minute and Setthawut Srithong (26th) for the well-deserved win.
In the meantime, Malaysia came in third after beating Vietnam 4-3 in the penalty shootouts.
The score after extra time was 2-2.
Vietnam’s goals were scored by Nguyen Truong Hoang Long (in the 5th minute) and Nguyen Thac Hieu (40th) as Malaysia replied through Iqbal Hazim Radzi (39th) and Muhammad Aidil Zakwan Zaidi (40th).
In the penalty shootouts, Nguyen Thac Hieu missed his attempt to give Malaysia the third spot.
