Malaysian Loro Wellkinson Peuji claimed bronze in the menās 77kg and below SEA Games weightlifting competition with a total liftĀ of 295kg (135kg snatch, 160kg clean & jerk) at the Malaysian International Trade and Exhibition CentreĀ on TuesdayĀ (Aug 29).
Indonesian Ketut Ariana won gold with an overall lift of 325kg (147kg snatch, 178kg clean & jerk) while Nguyen Hong Ngoc of Vietnam was rewarded the silver medal with a total lift of 307kg (140 snatch, 167kg clean & jerk).
Thailand’s Chatuphum Chinnawong, however, withdrew from the competition due to an injury on his left shoulder.
āMy personal best was lifting 171kg (clean and jerk).Ā I thought I could have done better but I was nervous. I am not very satisfied with my performance but I will definitely try harder next time,ā said Wellkinson.
In the menās 69kg category, Ā Indonesiaās Deni (just one name) who competed in the 2012 London and 2016 Rio Olympics, Ā bagged the gold Ā with a total lift of 312kg (142kg snatch, 170kg clean & jerk).
Thailand’s Trirat Boonsuk won silver with a 310kg total lift (140kg, 170kg) while Pham Tuan Anh took bronze following a total lift of 306kg (135kg, 171kg).
