While the rest of the PETRONAS Asia Road Racing Championship contingent are taking some time off from racing, top-performers of the 2014 Asia Dream Cup series got the chance to test actual Honda Moto3 machines at the Pasir Gudang Circuit in Johor.
The two-day test that began on Monday was attended by reigning Champion and FIM CEV Repsol Moto3 Junior World Championship bound, Khairul Idham Pawi from Malaysia, Syunya Mori from Japan, India’s Sarath Kumar, Taiwan’s Chuang An-Yu and Aditya Pangestu and Andi Farid from Indonesia.
India’s Sumit Loucs Toppo was supposed to take part as well but had to pull out at the last minute due to some unforeseen circumstances.
This is the first time that the Asia Dream Cup Moto3 test was held at the Pasir Gudang Circuit. For the past two years the test was done at the Losail Circuit immediately following the conclusion of the PETRONAS Asia Road Racing Championship.
Boon Siew Honda Snd Bhd Motorsports Manager, Rodney Peh reported a ‘positive’ conclusion to the proceedings having evaluated the riders performance on the Honda NSF250R Moto3 machines.
“Our objectives letting the riders test the Moto3 machines is to give them exposure and reward them for their good performance in last year’s Asia Dream Cup. We believe the experience gained here is crucial for them especially for Khairul who will be making a switch to the Moto3 Junior World Championship this season,” he said.
“Overall we had a very good test and the weather has been great. All the riders got the chance to test an actual race bike with factory components, a different chassis and engine specifications as opposed to the production bike they use in the ADC. All of them were very pleased and happy to be given this rare opportunity.”
“This test was also beneficial for the engineers as well. It gave them the platform to understand the technical side of maintaining and preparing a Moto3 machine,” he added.
PELUMBA ADC PAMER AKSI POSITIF DI PASIR GUDANG
Enam pelumba Asia Dream Cup (ADC) menamatkan sesi ujian Moto3 dengan mencatat aksi positif sepanjang dua hari sesi berlangsung yang berakhir di Litar Pasir Gudang, Johor hari ini.
Sesi ujian yang bermula pada hari Isnin disertai oleh pelumba Malaysia yang juga juara keseluruhan ADC musim 2014, Khairul Idham Pawi, pelumba Jepun, Syunya Mori, Sarath Kumar (India), Chuang An-Yu (Taiwan) dan Aditya Pangestu serta Andi Farid (Indonesia) manakala seorang lagi pelumba India, Sumit Loucs Toppo tidak dapat menyertai sesi ujian akibat masalah kesihatan.
Pada masa sama, Khairul Idham turut diumumkan bakal beraksi dalam saingan Moto3 di Kejuaraan Motosikal Sepanyol CEV Repsol bagi musim 2015.
Ini merupakan kali pertama sesi ujian diadakan di Litar Pasir Gudang dimana ujian Moto3 ini dijalankan sebaik pusingan terakhir Kejuaraan Motosikal Asia PETRONAS (ARRC) di Litar Losail, Qatar, sepanjang dua tahun lepas.
Pengurus Motorsports Boon Siew Honda Sdn Bhd, Rodney Peh merumuskan pelumba-pelumba terpilih berjaya mempamerkan aksi positif sebaik diberi peluang menggunakan jentera Moto3 NSF250R.
“Objektif utama sesi ujian ini adalah untuk memberi pendedahan kepada pelumba-pelumba terpilih yang beraksi cemerlang dalam saingan ADC musim lepas untuk beraksi dengan jentera Moto3. Kami percaya peluang seperti ini memberi pengalaman berguna kepada mereka terutama Khairul Idham yang akan beralih ke kategori Moto3 di Kejuaraan CEV pada musim depan,” jelasnya.
“Secara keseluruhan, sesi ujian berlangsung dengan baik dan kami memperoleh keputusan yang positif daripada pelumba-pelumba. Semua pelumba ini berpeluang menggunakan jentera Moto3 sebenar berbanding jentera pengeluar yanng digunakan di dalam saingan ADC. Kesemuanya juga berpuas hati dan gembira serta menerima banyak tunjuk ajar dan pengalaman sepanjang dua hari sesi ujian berlangsung.
“Sesi ini juga turut berguna kepada jurutera-jurutera kami dimana mereka dapat belajar dan memahami bagaimana untuk mengendalikan dan mempersiapkan enjin jentera Moto3,” tambahnya.
