The Asian Football Confederationās (AFC) Club Licensing Task Force agreed to commission a benchmarking report into the āAsian club football landscapeā at their meeting at AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
At the Task Force meeting, chaired by Shoji Fujimura of Japan, it was decided the report would analyse financial trends and monitor financial data to provide increased transparency among Asian clubs.
There was also a tightening of regulations as well as a decision to engage external independent consultants to conduct future compliance audits.
Fujimura also praised the creation at the end of 2016 of the Independent Entry Control Body, which rules on the eligibility of clubs for the AFC Competitions. He said: āThe introduction of the Entry Control Body is an important step for us. The implementation of club licensing is vital for the body to carry out its duties effectively.ā
