MALAYSIA achieved their 111 gold medal target at the Kuala Lumpur 2017 SEA Games on Monday night (28 August).
He beat counterpart, Muhamad Shah Firdaus Sahrom in the final which saw Azizulhasni crossed the finishing line with a time of 10.186s.
Before the race took place, Azizulhasni walked into the track brimming with confidence, believing that the much awaited 111th gold medal will be delivered in great fashion.
He eventually delivered the results in a fantastic manner despite the stiff challenge put up by youngster, Mohd. Shah Firdaus.
“This is a very historical achievement. I delivered the much awaited 111th gold medal. This is a very remarkable achievement because I won the race in front of our enthusiastic crowd.
“This could be my last SEA Games and I am feeling great to fullfil Malaysia’s 111 gold medal target,” said Azizulhasni when met after the race.
It was delivered by keirin world champion, Azizulhasni Awang in the men’s individual sprint final at National Velodrome in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan tonight.

Earlier in the women sprint category, Fatehah Mustapa lived up to her expectation when she won the gold medal in the event ahead of teamate, Farina Shawati Mohd. Adnan in the final.
It was Fatehah’s fifth individual gold at the SEA Games since she made her debut in 2011. “Next, I will be going for gold in my last two event namely the 500 meters sprint and keirin tomorrow.
“My target is to win both gold medal in the event,” said Fatehah.
Meanwhile, in the men’s individual pursuit final, Malaysian riders made it a one-two finished with Eiman Firdaus Mohd. Zamri took the gold while Mohd. Nur Aiman Mohd. Zarrif walked away with the silver.
The bronze was won by Thailand’s Sarawut Sirironachai.
