A solitary strike from Henrique Cruz early in the second half gave Timor Leste a hard fought 1-0 win over Cambodia in the final of the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy that was played at the Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium.
Cruz struck the only goal of the game in the 51st minute in a match that was attended by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
His Majesty also presented the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy as well as the mock cheque to Timor Leste, the champions of the tournament.
More than 20,000 fans came to the stadium to watch the final.
The champions of the tournament earned BND20,000 (USD 15,000) and the runners-up was awarded BND10,000 (USD 7,500) while the winners of the Fair Play and Best Player Award received plaques.
