Orelac Racing logo-300x67Orelac Racing VerdNatura riders Fahmi Khairuddin and Nacho Calero finished 22nd and 24th in the German round of the World Supersport Championship at the Lausitzring today. Fahmi and Nacho had gone well in this morning’s warm-up and were looking forward to the 19-lap race and getting into the points. Having started the race from the 24th and 27th places on the grid respectively, both knew that it was going to be a long, hard race at a circuit where overtaking is never easy. However, neither Fahmi nor Nacho were able to make the progress expected and were disappointed at the end.

Fahmi Khairuddin – 22nd
“After this morning’s warm-up, I expected more. My start wasn’t good, but I didn’t lose any places. As the race went on, I could catch and pass some riders, but then I started having problems with the gears. It wasn’t easy to ride the bike because the feeling was not good. The bike felt heavy and changing direction was hard. It was not a good race for me, but I feel positive that the next round will be much better and I am already looking forward to it.”

Nacho Calero – 24th
“I made a good start, but had a problem shifting from first to second gear and that stalled my progress. During the race the front end felt good, but I couldn’t get much feeling from the rear. Although I pushed hard, I couldn’t catch and pass the riders just in front of me. There are few issues with the bike we have to sort out, but I’m sure that we will solve these problems and come out stronger in the next round.”

Giulio Bardi (Team Manager)
“Today, and this weekend generally, was not what we were expecting, considering we had tested here not long ago. Considering their grid positions the riders did OK and both finished the race. But, the lap times were not consistent so we need to look at the data and see what went wrong. The lack of feeling that Fahmi and Nacho had with the bike means that we have some work to do. But I think we can give both riders the bikes they want and I am sure that the next round in Magny-Cours will be much better.”
