Star-studded Johor Darul Takzim could only manage a scoreless draw against Selangor club PKNS FC at the Shah Alam Stadium in the only Super League match played on Sunday.

Despite the stalemate, the Southern Tigers, chasing a record fifth successive league title in as many years, remained on top of the table with 29 points, six more than second-placed Perak on 23.

Kedah is next, followed by Pahang and Terengganu – all on 21 points, separated by goal difference.

JDT have not been able to produce the form that brought the Johor outfit the League Cup since 2014. The Southern Tigers are also out of the running in the FA Cup, losing to bitter rivals Pahang in the quarter-finals.

To return with a point from Shah Alam is still an achievement for JDT head coach Raul Longhi who now plots his team’s next match – the all-important top of the table clash against Perak at the Larkin Stadium, the home of the Southern Tigers on June 2. – BY RIZAL ABDULLAH
