The Johor state government contributed RM10 million to the Johor Football Association (PBNJ) in recognition of the associations commitment to develop football in the state.
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said RM149,000 was given to Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) for winning the 2016 Charity Shield and RM10 million for the development of football in the state.
Khaled said the PBNJ had carried out various initiatives to transform Johor’s fortune in football and as a result saw JDT achieve success after success in a short term.
“Success means the image of Johor has been lifted to a new level, not only in Malaysia but in Asia. Therefore, I hope this contribution will serve as an inspiration to achieve more success.
“The state government also hope PBNJ will continue to carry out development programmes to unearth talented young players to serve the state and country in the future,” he said in a statement after handing out the contribution at Bangunan Datuk Jaafar Muhammad, Kota Iskandar, here Wednesday.
PBNJ president Datuk Ismail Karim said the contribution would help the association in carrying out development programmes at the grassroots level and to optimise programmes that have been initiated. – BERNAMA
