# India’s Sourabh Varma stuns Taiwan’s top seed Hsu Jen Hao

# Daren reaches his first final since turning pro

# Both Malaysian pairs in women’s doubles fail to make the final

The men’s singles final in the Taiwan Masters will be between two unseeded players – Malaysian professional Daren Liew and India’s Sourabh Varma after the two broke the hearts of home supporters with wins over their Taiwanese opponents.

Daren Liew who quit the Malaysian national team in January this year upset fifth seed Lin Yu Hsien 11-9, 6-11, 11-3, 12-10 while Sourabh shocked top seed Hsu Jen Hao, the world No 22, 11-4, 11-7, 11-9 in 33 minutes.

Sourabh will be playing in his third final It will be his third international final this year after finishing runners-up in the Belgium Open and the Poland Open. The unseeded Indian will face Malaysian professional Daren Liew in the final.

Daren, a former Thomas Cupper, quit the Malaysian team early this year and this will be his first final since turning professional. The Malaysian had to play four sets before prevailing 11-9, 6-11, 11-3, 12-10 in 50 minutes against fifth seed Lin Yu Hsien of Taiwan.

In the women’s singles final Ayumi Mine will meet compatriot Saena Kawakami for the title. Ayumi upset No 5 seed Pornpawee Chochuwong of Thailand 11-8, 11-4, 11-5  while Saena outplayed compatriot Asuka Takahashi 11-7, 11-8, 11-8.

The men’s doubles final will see Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian-Muhammad Rian Ardianto play top seeds and Taiwan’s only hope of salvaging a title – Cheng Hung Ling-Wang Chi-Lin.

The Indonesians triumphed 6-11, 6-11, 11-5, 11-5, 11-8 over Singapore’s Terry Hee Yong Kai-Loh Kean Hean while the Taiwanese pair battled to a 11-6, 11-9, 9-11, 8-11, 11-5 win against Japan’s Hiroyuki Saeki-Ryota Taohata in 43 minutes.

The women’s doubles will also be an all-Japan affair after Japanese they brushed aside their Malaysian opponents in the semi-finals.

Yuki Fukushima-Sayaka Hirota, the top seeds,  cruised into the final with an easy 11-7, 11-7, 11-3 win over Chow Mei Kuan-Lee Meng Yean while Shiho Tanaka-Koharu Yonemoto also had it easy against Lim Yin Loo-Yap Cheng Wen with a 11-8, 11-9, 11-6 win in 29 minutes.

Hong Kong’s Tang Chun Man-Tse Ying Suet will battle for the mixed doubles title against Japan’s Ryota Taohata-Koharu Yonemoto.

The Hong Kong pair beat Indonesia’s Riky Widianto-Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja 11-5, 7-11, 11-8, 11-6 the Japanese handed Taiwan’s fourth seeds Lin Chia Yu-Wu Ti Jung a 115-, 11-5,11-5 beating.
