Former World and Olympic champion Lin Dan is among three Chinese players to advance to the semifinals of the prestigious Maybank Malaysian Open at the Putra Stadium tonight.

Top seed Chen Long and former world junior champion Wang Zhengming also made the cut along with Dane Jan O Jorgensen.

Lin Dan started off somewhat sluggishly but bounced back in the second and third sets to secure his spot in the last four. It was in the decider where the fans, who stayed back late to watch him, were rewarded with some amazing moves from star.

If he hopes of winning his first ever Malaysian Open crown, Lin Dan will have to get past Jorgensen in the semifinals tomorrow. Jorgensen slogged past Wei Nan 21-19, 18-21, 21-13.  In 2012, also in the Malaysian Open, Lin Dan was stunned by Jorgensen in the first round.

Chen Long meanwhile defeated Japanese Kento Momota 21-6, 21-9 in a one-sided affair. The lanky Chinese shuttler was hardly troubled and remains on course for a final showdown with Lin Dan.

His opponent in the semis will be Wang Zhengming, who defeated another Chinese player, Xue Song in the quarterfinals today. Zhengming won 21-17, 21-9 to ease into the semis.
