It was the end of the road for Malaysia in the Macau Open when the men’s doubles pair Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin and the mixed doubles pair of Hoo Pang Ron-Cheah Yee See were beaten in the semi-finals on Saturday.

Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin also lost out in experience when they played top seeds Li Junhui-Liu Yuchen of China although they tried their best in the second game to force a decider after losing the first at 21-16. The Malaysians lost the second at 22-20.

Ranked No 28 had a good run in Macau and reached the last four after knocking out 17th ranked Yang Po Han-Lu Ching Yao of Chinese Taipei in straight games 21-12, 21-16 and had hopes of reaching the final.

The USD150,000 Macau Open was their third semi-final this year after the Thailand Masters and the German Open. RIZAL ABDULLAH
