It was a “breeze” winning the post uncontested as the new president of FA of Selangor at the association’s extraordinary general meeting on Thursday but Dato’ Sri Subahan Kamal will have his hands full as the new supremo of the beleaguered Red Giants.

Subahan, who is also the incumbent president of the Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC), won the Selangor FA hot seat uncontested and is confident of turning things around for the former kingpins.

He has take it upon himself to bring back the glory days for the 33-time Malaysia Cup champions but asked for “strong support” and “patience” from the Selangor fans.

“Trust me we will be strong in 2018. With the new lineup in the FA we will bring in the sponsors and get things rolling,” said Subahan, a former FA of Malaysia vice-president and national team manager.

Subahan will also be contesting for one of the deputy president’s post in next month’s FAM elections, is not new to Selangor football, being a former FAS deputy president.

Selangor had a poor season overall last year, with a sixth place in the Super League and failed to retain the prestigious Malaysia Cup. The Red Giants lasted only up to the third round in the FA Cup.

In this year’s Super League the Red Giants are lying fourth with eight points after five matches but made an early exit in the FA Cup under coach P. Maniam.
